Natječaj WHO-a: 5 grants for participation in the upcoming course “Basic Principles in Diagnostic Stewardship”, Zadar, Croatia, 14-17 September 2025

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to inform you that WHO/Europe, thanks to its partnership with the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID), is offering 5 grants for participation in the upcoming course “Basic Principles in Diagnostic Stewardship” which will take place in Zadar, Croatia, from 14 to 17 September 2025. Please find more information about the course in the attached document.

Advances in technology offer exciting opportunities for better and faster detection of relevant pathogens. However, distinguishing between colonization and true infection remains a significant challenge, particularly as most causative agents of bacterial infections are part of the human microbiota. Clinical microbiologists may vary in how restrictively they report clinically relevant isolates. This course will provide insight into a standardized approach to the diagnosis and treatment of common bacterial infections through a combination of lectures and interactive tutorials.

Each grant will cover:

  • Course registration
  • Accommodation
  • Travel expenses (flight)

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:

  • Be actively working in one of the CAESAR network countries/areas
  • Have a relevant professional profile
  • Have English language proficiency

How to Apply
Interested candidates should send the following documents to eurosurveillance@who.int no later than 30 April 2025 (by close of business):

  • A letter of motivation outlining how the course content will benefit your institution and improve your daily practices (essential)
  • A tabular CV highlighting relevant education and professional experience (essential)
  • Proof of English language proficiency (optional)
